To Director of Transportation, County of Grey
Dear Mr Hoy:
There was an accident last week on Grey County road 15, near Annan which resulted in serious injuries to a cyclist.
As a resident of the area, I travel that road regularly, cycling, walking and driving. It is used increasingly by cyclists and neighborhood walkers and joggers with dogs and children. Agricultural equipment, transport trucks hauling construction equipment and trucks with trailers all use this road regularly. Vehicular traffic is often exceeding the posted limits. It can be busy and fast!
This road combines with others indicated on the Grey County Cycling map (distributed and promoted widely) to make a lovely ride, with lots of options, easily accessible from Owen Sound. However, these roads do not have cycling lanes or warning signs.
“Cycling in Grey County as been described as world class” (per Grey County cycling route map). I would strongly request that “share the road” signs be installed along this road.
I would be happy to discuss this further, at your convenience.
Thank you for your consideration.
Donna Mitchell
