What drives the standards by which we have discussion? Is it still TV and newspapers? Is it Facebook? Or something else? The current perception of political correctness seems to mean that there is a pre-determined list only of topics that can be publicly discussed, as well as a pre-determined list of allowable questions and answers that can be put forth. Only when people are allowed to talk openly about their concerns, fears and thoughts - without reprisals - and be willing to hear responses and opinions different from their own, without taking personal insult from it, will meaningful discussion take place.
