The recent article published last week in the Owen Sound Sun Times concerning Sauble Beach maintenance is very disturbing. The town is facing two charges under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
At the public hearing in October, the MNRF presented several expert witnesses with years of science-based evidence; the town was represented by lawyers, no one else, yet, Mayor J. apparently seems to know what’s best?
The ESA was created to help protect species that are most likely to be affected by human activity; Sauble is a perfect case. The science-based evidence clearly indicates that bulldozers and millions of humans don’t add up to “protection and preservation” of endangered species’ habitat.
