As a group of students who have put ourselves in a position of public scrutiny in order to make our voices heard, the walkout’s organizational committee at OSDSS is disappointed that our Premier and Minister of Education would undermine the work of youth. However, we are not surprised.
It is much easier to attribute our honest efforts and hard work to adults than to acknowledge that students have a voice and are capable of forming opinions.
We are paying attention, and we understand the detrimental effects that these cuts will have on our education. As previously stated, the walkout was indeed a student-led, grassroots movement, initiated by the student-led provincial group “Students Say No”.
Sincerely,
Walkout Leaders and Organizers at OSDSS
