Letter to Bill Walker, MPP
The recent announcement regarding the government’s proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act is irresponsible and appalling to me. If approved, this will have a detrimental effect on all species at risk in this province.
While the world is in a biodiversity crisis, it seems the government is bending to pressure from developers and industry instead of working towards restoring and protecting vulnerable habitats.
Developers ABSOLUTELY must not be able to pay their way out of protecting irreplaceable and valuable habitat.
Politicians should not be allowed to make decisions regarding the protection of species at risk – this needs to be left to the experts who have been studying and researching for years.
This land and the creatures and plants that survive here are invaluable. They will not be re-created.
Grey & Bruce counties are home to their own unique species. As MPP, I urge you to consider what kind of legacy your government will leave for the children of the future.
