Today is a historic day!

The Saugeen Ojibway Nation community members vote on consent for OPG’s proposed Deep Geological Repository for low and intermediate level nuclear waste.

This will be an international precedent-setting vote using Free, Prior and Informed Consent processes, and a “Yes” vote is the only way it would proceed at the local site.

Please be respectful today in discussions and comments around this topic. It is a very complex topic to vote on, and the community members have spent years learning and deliberating.

Whatever way it goes today, I have much respect for all those who have brought it this far.

Positive thoughts go out to all involved.
