SCENARIO: I am against a certain government decision and organize a protest by blocking the 8th Street bridge by a spectacular instant bonfire. How long do you think would it take for my gang to be arrested- 5 , 15 or 30 minutes....or 3 weeks? I know I am not very original, but many people are asking this question. So I am adding:

1- All citizens of Canada are required to respect the law. Nobody above. Or the costly anarchy we are experiencing now will happen again and again producing nothing but hatred.

2-Governments should not even negotiate with law breaking fanatics who are causing hundreds of millions of damage to the Canadian economy and are tormenting a large part of the Canadian population thousands of kilometers away. The ultimate irony is that they do not even enjoy the support of the majority of their own people.

3- Solution: the peaceful majority of the population along the proposed pipeline deserve honest and realistic talks with our governments based on mutual respect and give and take approach. But this will happen only if they can speak with a unified voice - by a team selected by a democratic process. Past mistakes on both sides should be admitted and corrected.

Democracy can not please everybody but is still the best system humanity has ever enjoyed. And Canada is still among the best. Let's keep us there.

Maks Zupan, Owen Sound
