- from a local construction worker
What is an essential service? I hear every day "stay home". I want to stay home. However my job in construction is deemed essential. My customer would not understand if I chose to stay home. So every day I leave my house feeling wrong for leaving. Coming home worried I could be bringing something home that could make my family sick.
Today I needed to use an N95 mask at work because there is sanding. I can't donate mine as long as I'm working. Should this be an essential service?
We have had a shortage of trades people for a long time and now we are risking their lives to do ...what? I'm not working on a hospital or medical building. I'm not working on low income housing. I'm working on residential construction. Maybe a housing credit should be given to those whose homes are behind because of this?
Tomorrow it is expected we'll have a shorter list of essential services. What is your guess. Will residential construction still be on it?
Stay safe everyone!
