heroesforhopeThe annual shave-offs are just getting started across the region with several school and community events kicking it off.

Since the program began in 1994, it has raised more than $51 million. This year Heroes for Hope will be hosted by Lotus Hair and Body Studio, Owen Sound on Friday May 6th from 5-7 p.m. The event is in conjunction with the 'Businesses & Organizations of Owen Sound Together' (BoOST) Fresh Friday event.

Over the years, the shave offs and going "down to the wood" so to speak, have evolved into hair dying, leg waxing, beard shaves and ponytail donations. If you would like to donate a ponytail it must be unprocessed

LEGO-CityVolunteers from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute will be on hand to talk to children and adults about community planning on Saturday, April 16 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Learn about what community planning is, what community planners do and how you can get involved in shaping decisions in your community. Following a brief discussion, participants will have an opportunity to plan a site in the City out of LEGO®.

sheatreThe Dementia Play is about to go on tour in Grey-Bruce... and beyond!

This lively original play with music takes an honest look at living with dementia and Alzheimer's, and it's anything but depressing. Seniors who have experience with dementia and Alzheimer's, some of them caregivers, developed the play with Joan Chandler and david sereda of Sheatre. Now the group is reaching out for more participants to add more scenes and songs to give a fuller picture of how people live with dementia.
