The Bluewater Association for Lifelong Learning's 2014 – 2015 season begins Thursday, September 11 and, if you haven't purchased yours already, "early bird" subscriptions are still available – up until August 31.
When you buy your BALL 2014-2015 membership ($10.) and purchase three or more lecture series passes by August 31, 2014, you can deduct $10 from the cost of the third series you purchase. That means you save the cost of your membership! Or, buy a pass to all four 2014-15 lecture series by August 31, 2014 and you will receive an additional Single Admit pass good for free attendance at one regular 2014-15 lecture.

"Right at the beginning of their time in Africa, EWB (Engineers Without Borders) gets staff and interns to stay in a village for a week," my daughter said. "We are expected to live with the people we work with. We take public transportation just like they do. We believe you have to live the way the people do in order to design programs that will actually help."

Recently, I visited a city in the American Midwest and found my encounters with strangers intriguing. In this still segregated community, a smile offered to an African-American generated a comment and a laugh, a relationship.
