The Bluewater Quilters Guild received a heart-warming email recently from Cathy Gunn of the Caithness Quilters (Scotland), with the pictures above.
"Thought you and your Members might be interested to learn that my daughter's Father-in-law, who is now in his early 90's, is the proud owner of a lovely quilt that his family received when their house was bombed during WW2 in Blackfen, London.
As a keen Quilter I was thrilled to see this lovely quilt and how it has survived over the years. It has been much appreciated and loved over the years."
Perhaps some of our community members participated in this, or remember their mother, grandmother or aunts making these quilts.
The Bluewater Quilters carry on this tradition, regularly donating quilts throughout the community, including to victims of fire or other tragedy, the hospice, the Women's Shelter, and Quilts of Valour,
