GB climate changeDiscussing climate change could come across as overwhelming and beyond any of us individually to tackle. But that does not mean that we need to sit back and feel powerless. Instead, the opposite is true as we all can affect our impact on climate change in small ways by the decisions we make on a day-to-day basis such as how we heat our homes to deciding what we eat and how it was produced.

A growing number of people in Georgian Bluffs are taking action and are starting to organize themselves around climate change issues relevant to our local area. The group is called GBCAT (Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team). It is organizing itself around working with the Municipality to develop a climate action plan, to participate in the discussion of the Kemble Arena renovation through a climate lens and to learn about nature-based solutions and climate resilience. As new members are bringing new ideas the approach of the group is gradually maturing.

The group is fortunate to have some experts in various environmental fields. However, many members are local residents who want to learn and contribute at a local level.

If you're interested to learn more about GBCAT or want to join the group, please contact Ann Schneider at [email protected] or Leigh Grigg at [email protected]
