The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is excited to launch the rebooted Education Centre. These new resources are available on their website at brucemuseum.ca and include all new digital field trips for classrooms and printable resources for educators.
Museum education staff have been reimagining educational resources and virtual field trips this past fall in response to the pandemic. The first virtual experience was launched in November with “Treaties Recognition Week” programming. The next virtual education programs that are now available are “A Virtual Day in the Life of a Pioneer Child” and “Earth’s Climate in the Balance”. The Museum website has been restructured to allow for easier searching of materials educators are looking for. Through a filtered system you can now search for resources by how they are delivered: online, in Museum, in School, and printable. You can further tailor your search by grade level and subject matter. This update is providing educators with easier access to information, more digital resources for teachers teaching online, and those in the classroom that would like to visit but cannot.
“The BCM&CC strives to support the communities we serve. During these challenging times we felt it was important to provide new and accessible resources and programs to our educators to assist with varied learning environments. The goal is to be a one stop shop for educators needs to provide resources for online, printable, in school and when we are able for in Museum programming.” says Cathy McGirr, Director, Museum & Cultural Services.
Even though the BCM&CC is closed to the public under the provincial shutdown until January 25, 2021, our Education Coordinator Mike Schwindt, can be reached directly at 226-909-3072 and [email protected] to answer any questions or book virtual field trips through our new Education Centre.
