All you "Age Friendly Community" supporters – it is time to get creative. The federal government has announced two new calls for proposals under the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).
The NHSP is a federal grants and contributions program that supports projects that are led or inspired by seniors who make a difference in the lives of others and their communities.
The first call for proposals, under the Pan-Canadian component of the program, is for projects to help to prevent and measurably reduce the rate of social isolation among seniors. Successful projects will be part of collaborative efforts to create this measurable change. Each project will be up to three years in duration and funded between $150,000 and $750,000.
The second call for proposals is under the Community-based component of the program, for activities that engage seniors and address one or more of the programs five objectives: volunteering, mentoring, expanding awareness of elder abuse, social participation, and capital assistance. These projects are eligible to receive up to $25,000 in grant funding per year, per organization.

The deadline for applications under both calls for proposals is July 10th, 2015.
