The best part of the grand opening of Sundays Ice Cream Parlour was watching these four enjoy their ice cream.

Jillian, Amelia, Paige and Blair were on their third visit to Sundays, celebrating the official beginning of their summer holidays. “We like to support local”, they all agreed, and were very excited to hear that Sundays will be celebrating National Ice Cream Day on Saturday, July 18 by giving away free single-scoop cones of their Kawartha Dairy flavours from 4 until 8.

Twenty-two flavours of Kawartha Dairy ice cream are now on offer at Sundays. Moose Tracks and Salty Caramel Truffle are still among the most popular, but the very colourful Cotton Candy was highly recommended to me by Paige and Blair as “the best”.

SundaysTimVitaTen flavours of vegan ice cream, from mango to chocolate peanut butter, are made right here in Grey County by PomPoms of Thornbury.

“I really like that they give you options,”said Amelia, scooping up the last of her ice cream sandwich, made with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies from Owen Sound's own Sugar Dust Bakery.

Owners Vita and Tim have more plans – a level patio space, some acoustic music to start. They intend to be an all-year-round fixture in downtown Owen Sound, and we are excited to have them here.

Sundays Ice Cream Parlour is on 1st Avenue East – in the back of Foto Art by the Market. Open until 9, rain or shine, all this holiday weekend!
