Bruce County Public Library has updated their online catalogue. As of December 29, they have moved to a new online catalogue system using the Toronto-based company, Bibliocommons. The new catalogue makes searching and reserving titles simpler with a new user-friendly interface.
The Bruce County Public Library catalogue brings Bruce County residents an innovative and interactive online experience. The new catalogue comes with multiple features, like 'Smart Search' that recognizes common search terms like "movies" or "new books" and automatically applies the filters you need to get great search results. You can create and share your favourites lists, rate or comment on anything in the catalogue, and follow other users, which will help create a personalized Newsfeed. Don't want to be social? Privacy matters – it's up to you what, if anything, you decide to share.
Many Ontario libraries have already changed to using BiblioCommons for their catalogue services, so have major libraries across North America, including the New York Public Library and the Chicago Public Library.
Library Director Brooke McLean is excited to oversee this change "This new online catalogue is the first step in improving our virtual branch for patrons, as outlined in our Strategic Plan. With the transition to our new catalogue, Bruce County Public Library cardholders now have access to the premiere online discovery layer for public libraries across North America. We are excited to join the growing list of top Libraries as we move into the changing online landscape of the 21st century."
