It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Percy Warrilow.

In his 98th year, born Oct 24 1924. Predeceased by his daughter Nancy and his parents John and Carrie May (Mabel Carnahan) and siblings Jacqueline Morrow, John, Olive Morrow, and Marguerite Radbourne. Survived by his brother Elgin. Also survived by his wife Betty (Foster) and sons Robert (Tracy) and David. His grandchildren Rowen (Toby), Rebecca, Riel (Mitch), Edward (Caitlin), Alexis, and his beloved great grandson Angus. Also survived by many nephews and nieces.

The last known survivor of Canada’s first aircraft carrier, HMS Nabob. He survived its torpedoing in the North Sea on a mission known as the Murmansk Run. For this he was awarded the Arctic Star and the Russian Medal.

Percy attended the University of Guelph Agriculture College after the war. He was a founding member of the United Breeders of Maple. Percy’s name is embossed on the founder’s plaque at United Breeders in Guelph. Percy was an advocate of selective breeding and promoted Records of Performance that is now a dairy industry standard. Percy received many awards for breeding and herd performance excellence. He exported his Holstein cattle to the USA, Mexico, and Italy.

He was also a well-known bridge player. Dearly missed by his chosen family: Ted Potter, Gail Garrett-Smith, John Tan, and the many other adopted friends who became family.

He was respected by his friends and loved by his family. May his memory be a blessing. There will be a private family service followed by a memorial service to be announced at a later date. Internment Boyd cemetery Hepworth.
