kindnessThe Municipality of Meaford wants to celebrate kindness with you this year!

The Meaford is Kind event kicks off with a weeklong social media campaign aimed at promoting kindness in our community. Residents are encouraged to participate in the Kindness Campaign by joining in the fun and doing some random acts of kindness for their fellow neighbours and submitting their stories by tagging us, or using #MeafordisKind. Each story shared is an entry into a draw for a fabulous Kindness Prize Pack. If you are a local business and would like to contribute to the prize, please reach out!

This campaign leads up to Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17 and you’re invited to some incredible activities planned for the whole family, including a Meet and Greet with Mayor Barb Clumpus; “kindness lives in the municipality of Meaford! We’ve seen it over and over again as seniors, shut-ins and those going through particularly tough times are surprised and so grateful to be the recipient of a random act of kindness. Let’s all keep this spirit of kindness going to make that glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel shine even brighter.” Said Mayor Clumpus. Join us on our quest to promote kindness here in Meaford and bring some joy to others during this difficult time.

Event break down for Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17, 2022:

The Mayor’s Meet and Greet at the Meaford Hall from 12-2 p.m., join us at the front steps of the Meaford Hall for a friendly chat with Mayor Barb Clumpus. Enjoy some social time, warm drinks, tasty treats, music by Lite 99.3 FM and exciting giveaways.

Patrons will be welcome to come in and decorate a card and write a message of kindness to give to a friend, a neighbour, a local business, etc. The Library will also be making a delivery to Meaford Long Term Care for anyone who would like to write an anonymous message of kindness for a senior. Please leave your decorated card in the basket provided and they will see it is delivered to the Long Term Care residents.
The Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre from 1-3 p.m., is hosting a free public skate music party, complete with prizes, games and a playlist provided by Lite 99.3 FM.
Memorial Park Kindness Bonfire from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., join Free Spirit Tours at Memorial Park for a Kindness Bonfire, where you are invited to set your kind intentions for 2022. Drop by to join a snowshoe race or check out the park and enjoy the great outdoors along beautiful Georgian Bay. This event is first come; first serve, with a maximum 25 people at any time due to public health restrictions. For more information email: [email protected].

Random Acts of Kindness Day started in 1995 and is an annual celebration of kindness, coordinated by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, a non-profit that invests resources into making kindness the norm. They are rooted in the belief that all people can connect through kindness and that kindness can be taught. Check out their website for more info, resources, school curriculum and inspiration on the kindness movement.

Let’s celebrate kindness together!

We want to remind residents that we are still dealing with the pandemic and we will be following public health guidelines. That means wearing a mask, maintaining social distance where possible, washing your hands and showing Proof of Vaccination when required. Please remember to bring your patience and as well as your kindness!
