COVID 19 Deaths in Grey Bruce

- by David McLeish

This chart illustrates the cumulative number of people who have died from COVID-19 in Grey-Bruce since the start of the pandemic.

As much as we would like to think the pandemic is over, it is not. The virus is still killing people. In fact, the number of people in Grey-Bruce who have died from the virus has doubled over the past 4 months.

In other words, thirty-one people died between April 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021 (762 days). The same number of people have died over the past 122 days.

Only a detailed epidemiological analysis will be able to determine the extent to which the relaxation of health measures intended to protect the populace has contributed to this, but these data certainly suggest that it is premature to gather in large groups inside without a mask.

(Note: On March 11, 2022, the count of COVID-19 deaths was changed to exclude fatal cases of COVID-19 where the cause of death was found to be unrelated to COVID-19. As a result, a number of deaths have been removed from the total counts. )
