The Owen Sound City Band, led by Music Director Julia Richards, is now back to Celebrate 100+2 Years of performing music in the Scenic City, resuming its traditional Monday evening concerts in beautiful Harrison Park, starting at 7:30pm, on Mondays in July: 4, 11, 18, 25 and starting at 7:15pm on Mondays in August: 8, 15, 22, 29 as the daylight grows shorter.
The Owen Sound City Band was officially created in July 1920, and will continue to present music for the entire family, including marches, swing, Latin, waltzes, children's songs and contemporary popular music too.
The City Band was planning to Celebrate its centenary two years ago, but this was delayed by the pandemic. We are now able to resume public concerts, and on Wednesday June 29, we fulfilled a request from the Lee Manor Residents' Council, to perform in the courtyard there. It was wonderful to see folks up and dancing, swaying or tapping their toes, as they enjoyed the sound of the City Band once more.
Bring your lawn chairs or just listen while you stroll about the park. More information about the Owen Sound City Band here.
This photo was taken by Don Sankey in 2014, and while the adults have not aged one bit, those 16 and under in this picture are barely recognizable now for their maturity.
