Safe N Sound's major fundraiser, Coldest Night of the Year 2022, was an amazing success story even though we were still knee-deep in the pandemic.
Last year, 207 walkers and countless donors gave of your time and resources, and for this, we are very grateful!
And now it is time to start thinking of Coldest Night of the Year 2023.
What is Coldest Night of the Year?
CNOY is a national initiative aimed at spreading awareness of homelessness while raising money to provide services in the host community. Proceeds raised in a community stay in that community. Information can be found on the CNOY website and charitable tax receipts are issued through the website.
What does Safe 'N Sound do?
Safe ‘N Sound provides support for so many people in need. They provide crisis intervention, an emergency phone line, transitional housing, harm reduction, on-site nursing staff every Tuesday, grab ‘n go lunch bags, coffee, showers, laundry, clothing, use of computers, phones, peer support, and most importantly, companionship.
As we enter the winter season, homelessness and precarious living become a life-threatening issue, not an inconvenient one. Seasonal isolation puts extra pressure on those dealing with mental health challenges.
Safe ‘N Sound provides a supportive place to: hang out, warm up, and access services that are necessary for physical and emotional health. If a person’s primary needs are not met, how can one focus on problems, think about tomorrow, let alone work toward hopes and dreams? When people are ready, Safe ‘N Sound is there to help with referrals to appropriate services.
What can YOU do?
We are planning Coldest Night of the Year 2023 to be the best yet and a huge THANK YOU to our supporters! Start and end points will be the Owen Sound Famers Market with hot beverages, food, and music.
- Mark your calendars: Feb. 25, 2023, is the walk date.
- Sign up a team. More team members can be added as time goes on. All donations are paid online, so there is no dealing with cash or follow-up.
- SPREAD THE WORD!! Challenge friends/family/coworkers/ rival companies to raise the most money or have the biggest teams.
- If you don’t feel like walking, donations can be made on the same link by donating to a registered walker.
- Show up on Feb. 25, 2023, ready to have fun!
