Things That Used To Matter, the latest book published by The Ginger Press, will be launched at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 21.
Anthologist Joan Beecroft has collected essays from 32 local writers which explore their feelings about what used to be important, and no longer is.
Particularly impacted by the pandemic, the things documented include everything from not wearing makeup and jewellery during the mask-up, to life challenges such as losing weight, and leaving a spouse.

In her foreword to Things That Used To Matter, Janet Glasspool writes: “This is a book of powerful resilience and brave changes in direction. In reflecting on what doesn’t matter, the writers come to deep understandings of who they are and what it means to exist. Joan Beecroft has collected stories that connect people and build understanding. In identifying things that no longer matter, this writing reveals what matters most.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the launch, at which several contributors will be present. Copies of Things That Used To Matter ($24.95) can be reserved at 519.376.4233.
