In my book Robins aren't a "common" bird. I find them extraordinary.
They are often considered a harbinger of spring and we all look forward to seeing our first Robin of the season.
They establish their territories and sing, sing, sing and amuse us with their nest building and the raising of offspring.
Folks that can't get out and hike the bush to view bird life get a view from their window of Robins doing what Robins do.
Robins provide an education to children as their nesting is often easily viewed.
A prize when I was a boy was finding a piece of a turquoise blue shell that we learned were from a Robin's egg.
