The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library has a great line-up of programs for students in grades 7-12 starting in October.
Get involved and have your say by joining the Library's Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Check out the first meeting of the new school year on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 pm. TAG members help plan programs, give feedback on the Library's teen collections and contribute ideas on how to better serve youth, in partnership with the TOM Thompson Art Gallery.
Students interested in creative writing can join the Library's Teen Creative Writing Circle on Wednesday, October 7 at 4:00 pm. The Creative Writing Circle gives youth an opportunity to share and collaborate on writing projects and will host regular guest writers to offer mentorship and support.
The Library resumes the long-running Collaborative Hour & Open Mic series on Wednesday October 7 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. Get up on stage and show off your musical talents. Prize draws for performers courtesy of the 8th Street Music Factory will add a little extra excitement to the evening. Funding support for this program is provided by the Georgian Bay Folk Society.
On Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 pm local otakus resume meeting for the Library's anime/manga club, also known as ChAOS (the Chibi Association of Owen Sound). This group meets monthly to discuss what's new in the world of anime and manga, screen and rate an anime and participate in a Japanese themed craft/activity.
The Teen Book Club members, in grades 9-12, will have their first meeting on Tuesday October 20, dedicated to welcoming back old members, meeting new members and suggesting and voting on books for the year.
