It’s been busy in the Hawks’ Nest!

The Saugeen Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation (Bruce CFDC) are very encouraged with the response for the third Hawks’ Nest competition to be held Wednesday, May 17, at The Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound.

The Hawks’ Nest is a Dragon’s Den-inspired competition where new and existing businesses and entrepreneurs from Grey, Bruce, Wellington North, Minto and the City of Owen Sound will pitch their business ideas in an attempt to secure financial support from local angel investors coined the Hawks.

At the event six entrepreneurs and one youth who have been chosen as finalists will pitch their business ideas to the Hawks in front of a live audience of up to four hundred at the Roxy Theatre. The entrepreneurs have completed pitch preparation training to help them create a powerful pitch to engage the investors and the audience.

The six Hawks, Tony Solecki from Caframo Ltd. (Wiarton), Howard Sher from Quality Homes  (Wellington-North), Amanda Farrell Walsh from Miller Insurance (Kincardine), Ed Bosman from Bosman Home Front Ltd. (Minto), Rhonda Kirk from Home Décor and More by Rhonda Kirk (Owen Sound/Hanover), and Craig Beck from The Beck Auto Group (Kincardine/Owen Sound), have each committed to invest a minimum of $5,000 on one or more of the finalists that evening.

With a minimum of $30,000 up for grabs, the evening promises to be very exciting and full of  surprise! As well, $5 of each ticket sale will go towards a People’s Choice Award presented to the entrepreneur with the most audience votes.

We invite you to come and support our local business owners and entrepreneurs who will pitch their business ideas on stage, in an attempt to secure investments from our Local Hawks. Our  finalists this year represent various sectors, from agriculture to food to tourism and hospitality! It  is sure to be a good show.
