Walk a Mile in Her Shoes coming to Port Elgin and Kincardine!
And you won’t want to miss the Drag Show After Party on Saturday!
Seventy-five percent of Canadian men feel it is important to speak out against gender based violence. Many are doing so through the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, not just talking the talk, but walking the walk donning red high-heeled shoes.
Women’s House will, again, be holding two Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraisers this May.
Pre-register to save time on walk day! In-person registration and donation drop-off opens in Port Elgin on Saturday, May 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the Queens Bar & Grill. In Kincardine on Sunday, May 28, the registration and pledge drop-off opens at noon downstairs at BarDown). The walks will follow.
BUT, we’re also having a third fundraising event that weekend – The Top Tier Drag Show After Party, following the Saturday Walk a Mile in Port Elgin at The Queens! You won’t want to miss this After Party!
Walkers can register, take the pledge, gather pledge donations and then Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® at either event – walkers with top pledges receive a prize and the first 40 Registrations are eligible for a free ticket to the Saturday night Top Tier Drag Show After Party at The Queens. Tickets are $30 in advance, and $40 at the door – doors open at The Queens at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, and there is limited dining room seating, so buy your ticket early! Come to cheer on the walkers or walk in the walk, and then stay at The Queens for dinner, followed by the show – call for reservations and buy your ticket now!!
Proceeds from both Walk a Mile in Her Shoes events in Port Elgin and Kincardine and the ticket sales for the Top Tier Drag – Walking the Stage Drag Show will benefit Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey.
This high-profile fundraiser has been “walking” all over North America. Men will champion to end gender-based abuse and sexual violence by walking the walk and talking the talk, and by asking friends, family, co-workers and workplaces to sponsor them through pledges. They walk for the women in their lives – they walk as individuals, or join together to make a team – but they walk to show that they are man enough to stand up, speak out and take action against gender-based violence!

We are looking for community minded men who are brave enough to walk a mile in a pair of 2-inch red heels to bring awareness to the need to end gender-based violence. This is a great venue to challenge another workplace in your area. We supply the shoes and it is a fun family day for all, as they cheer you on!
Will you step into heels and take the pledge to end gender-based violence? Will you walk as an individual? Will you walk with a team? Is there a team or business you’d like to challenge to step up too?
Find Walk Forms (to register) and Pledge Sheets (for donations) here. Pre-register to save time on walk day! Link to on-line donation platform can also be found at the same location. Register early, and your name/team name (and photo, if provided) will appear on our website to help promote pledges for you!
