Georgian Bluffs residents can now enjoy a brand-new playground at Kilsyth Park, adjacent to the Derby Community Centre.

This exciting addition aims to provide inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.

The playground, designed by Blue Imp, a renowned Canadian company specializing in playground manufacturing and distribution, incorporates elements specifically designed for children aged 18 months to 12 years, and ensures that children of all abilities can enjoy a fun and safe play space.

Acting CAO Niall Lobley expressed his delight at the completion of the project, stating, "We are thrilled to announce the opening of this accessible playground, which will create a welcoming and inclusive space for children in our community. By incorporating equipment everyone can enjoy, we are ensuring that all children can engage in recreational activities together.”

The playground offers a variety of components that encourage active play and sensory exploration.

Children will have the opportunity to climb, balance, slide, and crawl, promoting the development of coordination, fine motor skills, upper/lower body and core strength, flexibility, grip strength, and problem-solving abilities.

"This new playground is not just a place for children to have fun,” said Mayor Sue Carleton. “It's a place where they can learn, grow, and create lasting memories. It is a place where the community can come together, families can connect, and children can play. We are thrilled to offer a safe and inclusive environment that everyone can enjoy.”

The funding for this project was made possible through a generous grant provided by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. Their commitment to community development has enabled the realization of this exceptional playground, which will undoubtedly enhance the lives of children and families in Georgian Bluffs.
