There's just a couple of days left to have your say about Grey County's plans for your neighbourhoods and communities. The public survey, available online, closes Monday, July 31.

Grey is asking residents to identify their top priorities for the next four years as work begins on a planned update to the county's multi-year corporate strategic plan.

The survey can also be completed over the phone by calling 548.877.0730.

A strategic plan helps Grey County set goals to guide operational planning and spending. Public input is an important step in the process to ensure these goals align with the needs of the community.

Grey County provides a range of services to more than 100,000 residents, thousands of businesses, and millions of annual visitors.

Some of these services, like road construction and maintenance or land-use planning are similar to services provided at the local municipal level.

Most services, however, focus on providing essential support for vulnerable people in the community such as social housing, paramedic services and long-term care homes.

Some of the primary services provided by Grey County include:

  • Construction, maintenance and snow removal on 877 kilometres of County Roads along with 192 bridges and structures;
  • Providing care for 319 long-term care residents across three homes;
  • Acting as a Municipal Service Manager responsible for providing the Ontario Works life stabilization programming;
  • Maintaining 997 units of rent-geared-to-income housing and supporting 500+ units of non-profit housing;
  • Overseeing the licensing of childcare centres and home-based childcare and providing resources to support early learning;
  • Responding to nearly 30,000 Paramedic Services calls annually;
  • Supporting local businesses and the regional economy through workforce attraction and retention, skills training, entrepreneur services, regional tourism; and more.

Several recent plans, reports to County Council and stakeholder outreach will also help inform the new plan.

For more information about the Grey County Corporate Strategic Plan update, visit the County's website, or call 548.877.0730.

All responses will be kept confidential.
