Calling all Toronto ex-pats!
Come to the Grey Gallery Friday, Sept. 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for an exhibit of photos by Vincenzo Pietropaolo and readings from his book Toronto as Community: Fifty Years of Photographs.
Many of the 200+ photos in his book reflect the fact that Vince has been a social justice advocate and activist for decades.
They include strikes and massive public protests as well as celebrations of World Cup and World Series wins by Toronto teams.
And, of course, more intimate scenes such as the kiss that sealed the first same-sex marriage in Toronto; the vibrant, ever-evolving life of Kensington Market; and as the dust jacket testifies, an afternoon among the cherry blossoms in High Park.
And if you’re not an expat? Congratulate yourself on missing all those traffic jams – and come along anyway to hear Vince’s readings and comments on his half century as a chronicler of all things Toronto.
Here are a few examples from the 200+ photos, with more info here.
Two of the pictures feature Liane Regendanz who was Vince’s good friend and an Owen Sound resident for much of the last decade.
