"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." ~ Anne Frank
Community Foundation Grey Bruce is launching its inaugural Random Act of Kindness Day® in Grey Bruce on November 6th, 2015. Random Act of Kindness Day® is a day to celebrate acts of kindness in our community, with the collective goal of "paying it forward" to foster a sense of belonging and well-being throughout Grey Bruce.
In 2015, Random Act of Kindness Day® will be launched in Owen Sound and Walkerton. A volunteer committee, struck by the Foundation, has hopes to expand into more local communities as awareness grows in the region following its inaugural year.
Fred Wallace of Owen Sound and Joe Rys of Walkerton are the official ambassadors for Random Act of Kindness Day®. They will become the voice and face of the media campaign, working to inspire their communities to kindness this November 6th. Both the City of Owen Sound and the Municipality of Brockton are supportive of the initiative in their communities.
There are many different things that people can do to commit a random act of kindness – buy someone a coffee, congratulate someone on a job well done, give your staff an extra half-hour for lunch, visit a sick friend or a senior who doesn't get out much anymore, even holding open a door for someone with their hands full – each act provides us with an opportunity to connect with a member of our community.
Volunteers are needed for Kindness Crews, which are being assembled to undertake a host of engaging activities in the communities of Walkerton and Owen Sound on November 6th. Local businesses and organizations interested in getting involved in kindness initiatives are also encouraged to reach out to our Co-Chairs and access our social media outlets to help encourage others to get involved in community kindness this year.
