Forty-one community organizations across Ontario were selected by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to deliver innovative hiking programs for youth. Of those forty-one organizations, West Hill was the only school selected.
During a snowy Friday in February, West Hill students took part in their first "Mood Walk". "Mood Walks promote both physical and mental wellness by reducing barriers and creating new opportunities for youngpeople to be physically active and get outside" .
West Hill traveled to the Bruce Ski Trails in Hepworth to spend the morning snowshoeing. 20 Students, 2 teachers, and community partners all had a great time enjoying the trails, some warm apple cider and great company.
Thanks to the Bruce Ski Club and the CMHA for making this event free for all those who were interested.
West Hill plans to organize other hiking events this spring for any students who are interested.
