You're invited! Tuesday July 5 at 5pm at the Bayshore Community Centre, the Greenbelt and Growth Plan open house in Owen Sound. This is the last round of public consultations, and your final chance to make your voice heard. Your input is needed now more than ever, as these consultations will determine if the Greenbelt gets bigger to protect more sensitive water sources, forests, wetlands and will decide if the province takes action to protect thousands of acres of at-risk farmland in the Greater Golden Horseshoe instead of allowing it to be paved over for urban sprawl.
From now until the end of September, the provincial government is asking Ontarians for comment on proposed changes to the Growth Plan, Greenbelt Plan, Oak Ridges Moraine and Niagara Escarpment conservation plans.
Attend the open house and ask plenty of questions and make your views known!
Tell the government to: Expand the Greenbelt to include more at-risk natural areas and local farmland. Close the door on urban sprawl by freezing current municipal boundaries for the next 10 years. Ensure municipalities build climate-friendly neighbourhoods that use land efficiently. Let's encourage more compact, sustainable, vibrant, walkable and public transit-oriented communities that provide a mix of housing options for Ontario families.
Thank you for supporting Ontario's Greenbelt, protecting farmland, and smart growth for our communities.
