Take part in the annual art auction fundraiser held by the Forest and Community Garden Program, with a huge Miigwech, Thank you to our friends at Community Foundation Grey Bruce and Bruce Power for helping this come to life for a second year.
Artists from our community called Saugeen ('Zsaukin) First Nation were asked to show us "the 7 Grandfather teachings and our Land" through their art.
We received 16 exceptional and unique pieces, including paintings, drums, quillboxes, birchbark crafts, sculptures...
The pieces have travelled throughout the Saugeen Shores area since July 12th. They will be at their final location August 15-26th at the Tom Thomson for you to bid on so you too can have a piece of the beauty from our land, created by the talented community members at Saugeen First Nation.
For the very dedicated bidders, our final bidding will happen over phone or through this page on August 28th/29th, ending at 5pm.
When you bid on a piece in our travelling auction, you are showing your appreciation and respect for the talent that has been passed through generations of our community members, that has been kept alive to this day. Our Artists recieves half of the final bid as respect for their work, and our program also recieves half. This supports the operations of our forest and community gardens.
With last years donations, we were able to process wood to make beeboxes, and solar food dehydrators, puchase materials for our greenhouse, and grow our seeds.
