The Owen Sound Field Naturalists invite you to celebrate Earth Day and Canada 150 this Saturday, April 22.
The day will start with a "Nature Ramble" in the morning, led by Peter Middleton at Benallen starting at 9:30 until 11AM. Everyone is welcome.
At 2 p.m., the pre-eminent environmental historian Dr. Alan MacEachern of the University of Western Ontario will present a lively, visual history in honour of Earth Day and Canada's sesquicentennial. At Confederation in 1867, what did Canadians think of the nature of the new nation? How have our ideas about nature evolved over the past century and a half – in part because we have had access to so much of it?
Doors will open at 1 p.m., program starting at 2 at the Royal Canadian Legion, at 1450 2nd Avenue West.
Tickets are only $5. and are available at the door, and at the Library, Ginger Press, Suntrail, Owen Sound Farmers' Market. This includes refreshments, plus a cash bar, and all proceeds go towards Owen Sound Field Naturalists' Youth Programmes.
