Georgian College is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its longest running fundraiser for awards and scholarships this year. To mark the occasion, guests at the Golf Classic will have the chance to win a number of new and larger prizes while supporting a good cause.
A hole-in-one could see a lucky golfer walk away with $30,000; an 80-foot putt could net $20,000; and there will be a chance to win a three-year lease on a Toyota RAV4.
"We're excited to celebrate our anniversary with some new on-course activities for the novice golfers and really great prizes for the more competitive golfers," says Ann Smiley, Executive Director, Advancement and Community Development.
The tournament takes place on Thursday, May 25 at ClubLink's Club at Bond Head.
Other uniquely Georgian activities will include a contest for a guest to have his or her car detailed while they golf by Georgian alumni-founded business Georgian Detailing; pre-tournament massages by massage therapy students; cocktail reception entertainment by student Andrew Nikkanen; and hors d'oeuvres prepared by culinary students.
"Year after year, our sponsors and golfers support this fun event because they know how important scholarships are to our students and their success," adds Smiley.
More than $1 million has been raised at the Golf Classic since its inception.
