Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology Inc. (SWIFT) is recruiting for a permanent full time Chief Operating Officer (COO). The successful candidate will have a strong telecom background. Experienced, senior level telecom executives that have built and operated fibre networks are encouraged to apply as this role will be responsible for helping to guide the build out of an extensive fibre optic network.

SWIFT connects the unconnected so that they can fully participate in the workforce. Our goal is to effectively leverage the $200M of public funds to subsidize private sector Telecom Service Providers to extend fibre infrastructure into areas where there is not a normal business case to do so.
SWIFT has just released the first in a series of up to 30+ RFPs that will procure ultra-high speed fibre optic infrastructure in the project area. The COO will be responsible for key operations of the organization including procurement, network design, provider negotiations and network build oversight.
The position reports to the CEO. The CEO is located in a rural area near Thornbury in Grey County. At this time, SWIFT does not intend to open a bricks and mortar office. Our team works virtually using Office 365. Staff will be expected to work from home with only (ironically) a reliable internet connection and good cell phone reception as prerequisites.
SWIFT has a competitive compensation (base salary plus annual performance incentive) and benefits program with a salary range of $120,000 - $140,000 / year. In addition to a competitive salary, SWIFT is an OMERS employer and the position is eligible for a pension and comprehensive benefits package. This position is full time.
