Release your inner nerd and experience the sixth annual Owen Sound Mini Comicon, Saturday, May 5 at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library.
Starting at 10:00 am, the Owen Sound Mini Comicon presents an entire day of programming, including videogame tournaments, board games with Scenic City Game Emporium, the Owen Sound Ghostbusters, an artist's alley, button making, prize draws, a cosplay showcase and more. This event is mostly free, but bring money if you would like to purchase a snack at the Superhero Café, buy something from one of our exhibiting artists or make a donation toward future OSMiCon events.
In addition to all of this, the Library with the support of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery will be screening the animated film, "The Breadwinner" in the Library Auditorium on Friday, May 4. Based on the bestselling middle-grade novel by Deborah Ellis, "The Breadwinner" is set in 2001 in Kabul and follows the story of a young girl named Parvana who must cut off her hair and disguise herself as a boy to become the breadwinner for her family when her father is imprisoned. Doors open at 6:00 pm, the screening will begin at 6:00 pm. Admission is $2 per person at the door.
