"Two young people fell in love, and we all showed up." - The Most Rev. Michael Curry, in his sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – now Her Royal Highness Duchess of Sussex. Royal watchers young and old sat together in St. George's Anglican Church in Owen Sound in the early hours of Saturday to watch the occasion together on the big screen.
In the pews, there was lots of chatter as the guests gathered, but when the wedding service began it was like being in St. George's chapel, Windsor - respectful attention, "amens" and singing along to the hymns.
Beverly Morley was wearing the dress she wore to Charles and Diana's wedding when she and her husband Lawrence were with the Canadian High Commission in London. Francesca Dobbyn, born in Cornwall, wore her full collection - including tartan tights and a beaded Union Jack handbag.
Peggy Ann Black was thrilled at the idea of watching the wedding as a community – she still fondly recalled travelling with her grandmother to Toronto to watch Queen Elizabeth's coronation on her aunt's television.
Peggy Ann and Vera Weller presided over a fabulously festive tea room after the wedding, complete with scones and homemade jam.
