special olympics"Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." is the Special Olympics Motto. OSDSS hosted the regional Special Olympics day on Tuesday June 6 where brave attempts were made by over 150 athletes with the help of 130 volunteers. The day began with the help of the Owen Sound Police Services who assisted in the Torch Run and ended with cheers and ribbons that honoured the spirit of competition. A big thanks to the OSDSS Leadership class volunteers for helping to run and organize the events for athletes!

Making the podium in the girls ages 8-11 group was first place Jessica Bullock, and tied for second place, Katlyn Heasman, Em-jay Descanes, and Brandy McNabb. In the boys ages 8-11 group, first place Johnathan Gallant, second place Jaime Gamble and Thomas Nichol, third place Gavin Heard. For the girls ages 12-15 group, first place Keira Petty, second place Cheyanne Melton, third place Emma Seabrook. In the boys ages 12-15 group first place Kyle Fortune, second place Chris Marshall, third place Brody Wynne. In the girls ages 16-21 group, first place Natlie Ritchie, second place Katie Fairlain, third place Jessie Belyen. In the boys ages 16-21 group, first place Noah Wylie, second place Brian Clifford, third place Niklas Vance.
