On Monday, Bruce Hall quietly reached out to his community for some help with his expenses as he undergoes cancer treatment. Some folks heard and amplified his voice a little.
You all know Bruce's seasonal "puffies" and glorious gardens at ReNewed Computers, and from the comments on the GoFundMe page, it's clear that many of you also know Bruce and his wife Alexa.
Here's what Bruce had to say when he saw your response.
"Thank you all for your amazing responses to my request for help. I was trained as a child that one should never ask for help, nor go public with personal issues. I am so grateful I chose to reach out to my community! Having funds to proceed with my treatments is so relieving; the stress this has been causing us has been rather unsettling.
The gratitude I feel for you all is profound and is itself a gift. With your help, my goal of 18 more years of gardening may be more realistic. I am so relieved to be able to begin the homeopathic and other non-OHIP covered treatments which will enhance the traditional multiple myeloma chemotherapy and stem cell transplant.
We have the easier half of the treatment done, the tandem stem cell treatments are to come with more powerful chemo. Then we begin to rebuild our lives, hopefully in time for summer blooms!
As I come back from being tongue tied and in awe of your generousity, I thank you all for your support!!! As a gift, this one is life! Thank you from my heart."
