Yeah. I'm smiling.
I got the opportunity to do some pretty great stuff lately- things that anchor me to my reasons for doing what I do. I taught a class that was intended to demonstrate inclusivity and personal agency in yoga at the @mentallyfitmf event in #owensound last weekend. Moving your body and feeling safe to do so is a privilege for many just as much as it is a resource.
And today I was welcomed back to St.Mary's to chat to an amazing group of students about why on earth awareness of self, other and the environment is beneficial in any sense.
Walking the crammed halls of a high school totally catapulted me back to a time when I felt very unsure and disconnected- but it was interesting to walk a hallway now with my inner tool kit of awareness practices and life experience. And it always still scares me to speak in front of groups! The only reason I do it is because I know I have something to offer that might really help someone feel like they could find a home within themselves and their environment. Connecting to reason and purpose always gives me courage and reduces fear.
Sitting in meditation with a group of high school students was awesome, to hear their creative feedback on how awareness practices can benefit society was even better. Everyone has something to offer and on grateful I had the chance to be there and listen.
