There is only one organization in Bruce and Grey brave enough to invite 350 teens to spend all night watching movies and eating bottomless pop and popcorn - to raise funds for children and youth projects and that organization is the United Way of Bruce Grey!
The event takes place on Friday, April 26th at midnight at the Owen Sound Galaxy Cinemas and runs through until 7:30 am Saturday. The Starlight Film Festival celebrates its 16th year with a “Retro Night” theme and will be showing 4 movies inspired by the fun 80’s era including; Bumblebee (2018), Ready Player One (2017), Jumanji - Welcome to the Jungle (2018) and The Wedding Singer (1998).
The event is open to teens aged 14 to 18 years. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the United Way Bruce Grey office located at 380 9th Street East in Owen Sound or at your local high school. Tickets will also be available at the door while supplies last. The ticket includes the all night movie marathon, unlimited video games and bottomless pop and popcorn. Identification will be required so that we can verify identity and age.
All proceeds from the event go to supporting children and youth projects throughout Bruce and Grey Counties.
Recognizing that transportation is an issue in the community, the United Way and local community partners will be providing bussing along two routes Walkerton-Hanover-Chesley and Dundalk-Flesherton-Markdale. For more information about bussing pick-up times and locations, please contact the United Way Bruce Grey at 519-376-1560.
For the safety and security of all, St. John Ambulance and Grey County OPP will be on site. Once the event has begun, youth will not be permitted to leave the building. Smoking and vaping is not permitted throughout the duration of the event.
