On Thursday, May 9th, from 1:45pm to 2:55pm, as part of Owen Sound District Secondary School’s celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week, 30 students will join The Workshop at The Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op to create special craft projects. The students will have the opportunity to practice printmaking and metalwork in The Workshops fully equipped community workspace.
OSDSS has many initiatives during the day that investigate different wellness strategies. “Art and craft can be very therapeutic and soothing, plus creativity can create a strong community link, as witnessed by all the activity in The Workshop and at the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op!” says manager Morag Budgeon. “We are proud to be part of the conversation!”
Currently, the Artists’ Co-op is hosting a High School Juried Show in their Legacy Gallery, featuring over 95 works of art from Secondary School students in Grey and Bruce County. The students participating in The Workshop Mental Health Project will have the opportunity to view the creativity and art ideas of their peers and as a bonus, can vote on the piece that speaks to them.
