The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is coming to Port Elgin and Hanover. Men of Grey and Bruce are once again being invited to put on a pair of women’s heels for charity.
Bruce County walkers will take the pledge Sunday, May 26th at the Queen’s Bar & Grill in Port Elgin, registration begins at 12noon, and the walk begins at 1pm. The Hanover Rotary is also holding another “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®” event in Hanover at the Queen’s Bush on Saturday, June 22nd, so watch for details on that event too!
The proceeds of the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® events in both Port Elgin and Hanover will benefit the Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey, with all proceeds from the Port Elgin event going to Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey, and the Hanover Rotary Club generously offering to share the proceeds equally between Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey and the Women’s Centre in Owen Sound from their fundraiser.
This high-profile fundraiser has been “walking” all over North America. Men will champion to end woman abuse and sexual violence by walking the walk and talking the talk, by asking friends, family, co-workers and workplaces to sponsor them through pledges. They walk for the women in their lives, they walk as individuals, or join together to make a team, but they walk to show that they are man enough to stand up against violence against women!
We are looking for community minded men who are brave enough to walk a mile in a pair of women’s red heels to bring awareness to the need to end violence against women. This is a great venue to Challenge another workplace in your area. We supply the shoes and it is a fun family day for all.
Will you step into heels and take the pledge to end violence against women? Find Walk Forms (to register) and Pledge Sheets (for donations) at http://whsbg.on.ca/are-you-man-enough/
