On Thursday, May 30, Alexandra Community School had their first annual Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart celebration. It was both a fundraiser and a ‘fun-raiser’.
The weather was perfect as the entire school took to the playground and the parking lot. Skippers worked on their fancy single rope moves and learned to skip long rope and Double Dutch. Basketball fans had lots of opportunity to shoot hoops under the basketball nets and practise their dribbling and ball spinning techniques.
For two weeks leading up to this event, all Alexandra Eagles had been challenged to collect pledges to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Their goal was to raise $1000 for this very important charity. They worked together, getting both online and cash pledges, and we are proud to announce that they more than tripled their goal. Their final tally was $3762!
