reading clubCome to the Library this summer for lots of great, free programs and to register for the TD Summer Reading Club.

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library will be hosting a launch party for the TD Summer Reading Club on Saturday, June 22 at 10:00 am. Children set their summer reading goal, take part in games and crafts and can enjoy a cool, refreshing drink at our lemonade stand. Families who miss the launch party are welcome to register for summer reading at any point throughout June July and August.

With a wide variety of free summer programs for children of all ages, the Library is a great place to visit this summer. Spaces for some of these programs are limited. To find out more, visit the Library or call 519-376-6623 ext. 4.

Celebrate the Japanese Star Festival, Tanabata, with community member Yuko on Friday, July 5 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Learn the story of the star-crossed lovers, fold origami and make a goal for the year ahead.

Weekly Wacky Wednesday programs run 2:00-3:30 for 9 weeks in July and August. From digging in the garden to blasting off into outer space, there’s something to interest everyone!

The youngest library members and their parents can check out weekly Story Tent programs on Tuesdays from July 9 to August 13, 10:30-11:30 am. Infant/Toddler Story Time also makes an appearance this summer on Thursdays from July 11 to August 15, 10:30-11:00 am. Come out with your little ones for stories, songs and activities.

The Library will be hosting Wild Ontario for a birds of prey show on Monday, July 8, 10:30-11:30 am. Tickets are on sale now for $5 per person. Based out of Guelph, Wild Ontario seeks to foster love and appreciation for Ontario’s incredible wildlife and spaces.

For more animals in the Library, visit us on Monday, July 22, 2:00-3:00 pm to meet an alpaca courtesy of Kickin’ Back Alpaca Ranch in Markdale. There will be alpaca crafts and an alpaca themed story time.

Summer LEGO Club, a Stop Motion Animation Workshop, Ukulele Jr. Jam, Sewing Club, Tech Petting Zoo and a Videogame Tournament round out the Library’s summer offerings for youth. Details for all of these programs can be found on the Library’s website: www.owensound.library.on.ca.
