Community drug alcohol strategyA series of Town Hall meetings are being held across Grey Bruce to give the public an opportunity to hear about the current opioid situation. Presented by the Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy, the goal is to provide the public with up-to-date information on the opioid situation, but to also break down some barriers and engage in some productive discussions.

People with lived experience will be sharing their story. The public will have an opportunity to rotate from station to station to speak directly with, to ask question of and engage in discussion with Police, EMS, Public Health and Mental Health and Addiction Services.

“We want to share current information, efforts and interventions that are underway to aid in the opioid epidemic that is affecting us locally as well as nationally and worldwide.” says Public Health’s Harm Reduction Manager, Ian Reich. “It is important for us to share the truths about drug use, addiction and the challenges associated with it.  We need to ensure the public is aware that addiction is a health issue, and as such, a health lens must be applied to aid in the situation.”

No registration is needed, light refreshment will be served.
