fashionBruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is pleased to extend the invitation to a creative art show opening Saturday, January 18, 2020. “re:FASHION” was created by Connections Fibre Aritsts for Wellington County Museum & Archives and is travelling to Southampton to be on display until April 30, 2020.

This distinctive exhibit original works of art inspired by clothing and accessories from Wellington County Museum’s artefact collection. Established in 1999, Connections Fibre Artists is dedicated to the exploration of fibre as an art form. Coming together from diverse creative backgrounds, members work together to raise awareness of fibre art, and to develop their talents by exchanging ideas and sharing new skills and techniques.

“We are excited to bring this unique exhibit to Bruce County.” said Janice Mewhinney, Acting Director, Museum & Cultural Services “Hosting this travelling exhibit from Wellington County Museum and Archives allows us to not only support our Museum colleagues from Wellington and Connection Fibre Artists from across Ontario, but also our visitors get to experience this exhibit closer to home”.

In creating this exhibit, Connections Fibre Artists celebrated 20 years of excellence in fibre art. “re:FASHION” features 24 original works of art. Each artist was invited to choose an artefact from Wellington County Museum’s collection to serve as inspiration for their piece, from simple undergarments to elaborate beaded dresses. This exhibit is proudly presented by Southampton fashion retailer, Sisters on Huron.

Please join us at the BCM&CC for the exhibit’s opening reception on Saturday, January 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. All are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of art along with light refreshments and cash bar, please call 519-797-2080 to RSVP in advance.
