The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula Council voted unanimously on December 9 to acknowledge the science of climate change and to create a Climate Action Committee.

The decision came after a joint presentation by the Bruce Peninsula Environment Group (BPEG) and students from the Bruce Peninsula District School. The proposal also had written support from many community groups and churches.

The CAC is to be composed of community members, council members and staff and will oversee creation of a climate action plan and make specific recommendations to council to undertake measures to mitiage and adapt to climate change.

As elsewhere, the process in North Bruce was indeed kick-started by showing "Resilience" last August.
