Peninsula Adventure Sports Association (PASA), in partnership with Bruce Power, is excited to announce a new partnership for the 10th Annual Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race presented by Bruce Power.

To celebrate the agreement with Bruce Power, the August 8, 2020 race will feature an all-new set of racecourses with stunning scenery, gut-busting climbs, and many new trails.

Proceeds from the 2020 event will support a bicycle safety & skills program known as Ride Smart, in conjunction with the OPP and New Hope Community Bikes. Ride Smart provides health & wellness benefits for youth involved in cycling by providing an opportunity for them to build on their self-worth while learning riding skills, bicycle repair and maintenance in the process. New Hope Bikes is set to announce it’s 2020 schedule of Ride Smart events, and many are expected to be held across the Bruce Peninsula to serve as many as 150-200 youth from low-income households.

Features of the new racecourse will be unveiled on raceday, as is typically the case for the event, in order that the racers do not start previewing the course and crossing a number of private properties in the process. Both the “sprint-sized” Suntrail Source for Adventure Course and the 100km Subaru Long Course will again finish in Wiarton all through the afternoon.

“We’ve got some new trails and new directions lined up with some stunning scenery. The race directors are putting the finishing touches on a significantly redesigned course for 2020 that also offers an opportunity for faster gear return, as well as a more spectator-friendly Suntrail Course,” says PASA past president Jack Van Dorp.

Raceday this year is Saturday, August 8, 2020 and will feature local food & live music with a finish line festival in Bluewater Park. The Wiarton Farmers Market Pasta Dinner will be back at the Wiarton Arena the night before (Friday August 7th), and the public is invited to come and support the event by cheering on the racers at the finish line, picking up a souvenir, or by purchasing tickets for the popular Friday dinner which will be available at the door.

PASA was founded in 2011 and also organizes the Wiarton Willie Groundhog Jog (this Sunday!) and the Tobermory Trail Race Weekend. The non-profit states its mission as “supporting outdoor sport on the Bruce.”

Race registrations have been brisk with already 60% of the race sold out. Earlybird pricing ends March 11th, 2020. As is typical for the BPMR, registration for all races will be capped at numbers that will ensure the event is low-impact to its surrounding environment.
